Firefighters rushed to a pre-dawn blaze, a fire at a vacant house was extinguished and nobody was injured. Overall, the response by Pennsauken crews could be considered a success.
There’s just one thing: Did they have to break two windows on an illegally-parked car to douse the fire?
“This person made the conscious decision to park in front of the fire hydrant. Windows can be replaced; people cannot,” Pennsauken fire Chief Jospeh Palumbo said.

Well you are an idiot to not even think, the house was abandoned and therefore not occupied, all calls are different and should be treated as such. After protecting lives, protecting property comes next. Backing the 5 inch up, breaking the street window, starting the lay thru the back seat, going around to the other side and breaking the other glass, pulling it thru the car and hooking it up with kinks will take you longer than a plan B hookup. Most of you need to redo the Academy or at least a PR class, if you are even a firefighter to start with…

Very unprofessional to say the least, never the best way to do it. When a fire company destroys more than they save, they need more training or get out of the fireservice. This was a payback response and should be treated as such… Period!

No it wasn’t. It was a necessary path to not kink the hose and impede the water pressure.
There is no defense for blocking a hydrant. And yes this was the most rapid and expedient to get water to a fire to save lives and homes. Period.

@ david, when you call someone stupid, that says that you are a liberal and have no intelligent answer. I don’t know how you made it as a firefighter, if in fact you are. We do this for people, granted most calls are from people that are dumb and have caused their own problems, but never the less we try to HELP them with it…
