There are three ways to apply for upper secondary education and higher education in Finland: joint application, separate application, and rolling admissions.
Joint applications
Joint applications are national application procedures used by Finnish education institutions to select new students to upper secondary education and higher education institutions.
Joint applications are coordinated by the Finnish National Agency for Education.
You can apply to a maximum of 7 (upper secondary and vocational education) or 6 (higher education) study programmes with one form.
There are three joint applications per year for higher education institutions:
Joint application, autumn 2023: 4 September 2023 at 8:00 to 14 September 2023 at 15:00 Finnish time (UTC/GMT+3) for English-taught degree programmes starting in the autumn term.
Joint application, spring 2023: 3 March 2023 at 8:00 to 11 March 2023 at 15:00 Finnish time (UTC/GMT+3) for Finnish/Swedish-taught degree programmes starting in the autumn term.
Joint application, spring 2024: August-September 2024 for a smaller number of degree programmes taught in Finnish/Swedish/English starting in the spring term.
English-taught degree programmes are not always available in the joint application. You apply to these study programmes directly to the education institution in separate application or via rolling admission. (Tramadol)
You can find a list of programmes available via joint application on the Studyinfo website.
Separate applications
In separate applications, you apply directly to the education institution with separate application form for each study programme and education institution.
There are no limitations to the amount of study programmes you can apply to in separate application.
You can find a list of programmes available via separate application on the Studyinfo website.
Rolling admissions
Vocational institutions as well as some higher education institutions offer admission year around.
You can find a list of programmes available via rolling admissions on the Studyinfo website.
