Sciatica? Similar Symptoms, Different Causes

November 27, 2015 By Rana Waqar Leave a Comment

Sciatica is a set of symptoms including pain that may be caused by compression and/or irritation of one of five nerves in the lower back or of the sciatic nerve itself, further away from the spine. The sciatic nerve provides feeling in the buttock, back of the thigh, the lower leg and the foot. When the nerves are pinched, inflamed, or irritated, pain, numbness, and/or weakness can result.

There are different types of sciatic pain depending on which nerve is irritated.
