IKYFL!! This job is STRESSFUL!!!!!!!!!! We are underpaid and over worked. High demands from the OR, add ons that get cancelled, one tray stat request that never get used etc etc… this job is a blessing because we contribute to the sterility of the procedure but DAMN!!!! Can we get a raise?! Use essential workers need a raise!

Obviously, the researchers measured data that does not apply to sterile processing which lead them to draw the wrong conclusion. If they actually did real research and observed a sterile processor at work or asked people in that position they would have come to a much different conclusion.

This is a ludicrous assumption made someone quite ignorant of the facts. I am an OR Charge nurse and we couldn’t survive (or our patients either) without a well run SPD. Their responsibilities are enormous. One error can delay a surgery for hours, or worse, if undetected the error could significantly harm the patient. There is a LOT of pressure on these people every day. And as you can see from the salary, they are grossly underpaid.

Spoken like a true subject matter NON- expert who’s clearly never stepped foot into an SPD! What a joke. Have some respect for the hard-working professionals who do this job. Not stressful? I welcomed you to put some scrubs on and join us for a day.
