    ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Saturday announced its verdict on a suo moto case pertaining to dual nationalities of government officers and directed the government to not appoint dual nationals on top posts and to draft laws in this regard after approval from the Cabinet.

    According to Geo News, the court had issued notices to the Attorney General and four provincial Advocate Generals before pronouncing its judgment which was reserved on September 24.

    Earlier, the chief justice had summoned a list of dual nationals appointed on top government posts across the country.

    The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted a list of around 1,000 dual nationals holding government offices.

    ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: Islamabad police on Friday registered a case against a man for threatening and beating a woman in a video which went viral on social media.

    The video of the incident, which went viral on social media, shows a man identified as Wasif Abbasi threatening and thrashing a woman. People expressed anger over the video as Abbasi not only made the woman kneel before him but used expletives to threaten her and beat her in the end.

    As people called for action against Abbasi, Islamabad police located the woman and inquired her about the incident before registering a case in Ramna police station.

    The woman maintained in the First Information Report (FIR) that Wasif was her university fellow and was threatening her after she refused to marry him.

    Police say that Wasif Abbasi is out of the country and will be arrested upon his return.

    The law enforcement agency further added that Abbasi is also the leader of a gang comprising boys from Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The members of the group are said to be involved in selling drugs and other criminal activities.
